What we saw wasn’t enough, but a good start.
Remember way back in 2015 when Nintendo unofficially announced that they were making a new console code named the NX? Then they said “no news until 2016” and January 1st rolled in and we all spiritually sat outside Nintendo’s house waiting for news. Well 10 months later we finally have our first official look. The Nintendo Switch.
There were earlier rumors about it being a cartridge based system with a mobile screen that controllers could snap onto. So it looks like all of that was MOSTLY true. Nintendo has the official blurb:
Introducing Nintendo Switch! In addition to providing single and multiplayer thrills at home, the Nintendo Switch system also enables gamers to play the same title wherever, whenever and with whomever they choose. The mobility of a handheld is now added to the power of a home gaming system to enable unprecedented new video game play styles.
There’s no pricing or a more specific release date other than Mach 2017 and we don’t have any console specs but expect more to roll out in the coming weeks.
