Back in 2006, a group of wide-eyed comic book geeks started a podcast with gear they were renting out from college. The podcast originally had a single-focus of comic book reviews but as the show grew in popular, it expanded into a podcast about games, movies, and everything else nerd-related.

The Red Band Logan Trailer Is Here!

X-Men should just not bother with the future, like, at all.

In 2013 director James Mangold dragged the Wolverine franchise out of a volcano and pieced it back together like the Emperor did to Vader. Putting together a much more quiet film and changing the setting to Japan, The Wolverine surprised many and is seen as an underrated gem.

Mangold is re-teaming with Hugh Jackman with the followup Logan. Taking place in the not so distant future things are, you guessed it, bad in the future. Something happened and most mutants are gone and it seems like Logan and Charles Xavier are just hanging out with each other in their old age. They come across a girl, Laura who as Xavier puts it, “much like Logan”.

The tone of this trailer feels much like an indy film, or a bid budget movie trying really hard to look like an indy film. They even have Johnny Cash’s cover of Hurt playing throughout which is kind of like those Gears of War trailers using Mad World in every trailer. James Mangold has proven he can get the tone right however and my hopes went from “moderate” to “very high” after this.

The official blurb:

In 2024, mutant births are severely in decline, and people aren’t sure why. A government-type operation is turning mutant children into killing machines. From this, Logan emerges as a mentor to a mutant girl, who has two claws instead of his three.

The above trailer is the international one which means it’s technically a red band trailer, it’s totally SFW. You can see the American trailer below.

Logan hits theaters March 3, 2017
