Back in 2006, a group of angry young comic book nerds started a podcast with the focus of highlighting which comics that released that week were the must-read books but as the show grew in popular, it expanded into a show about video games, movies, television, comics, and everything else in between. Just remember one thing: We don't talk. We argue!
Hi and welcome to the weekly edition of Things That Happened The Week Of AKA did anything big REALLY happen this week?
If the earlier sentence wasn’t dripping with sarcasm already let me reiterate, this was one of the busiest non-event weeks in recent memory. Sadly with all the great that happened this week, we are truly saddened to report on the passing of Comic Book Artist Steve Dillon. He has his artwork all over some of the greatest books of all time with his unmistakable style. Steve brought a flair and character to his work and you knew you were getting a certain kind of book. He has worked on mega popular titles like Wolverine, Hellblazer, ThePunisher and drew my favorite comic series of all-time, Preacher. The comic world is poorer without him in it. Fact.
With that sad business out of the way, let’s not forget all the great. Nintendo finally(!) announced their new console, we got a great Logan trailer, a Guardians of the Galaxy 2 sneak peek,Red Dead Redemption 2 was officially announced and a trailer followed that. Donald Glover is taking the “Young Lando Calrissian” gig. There’s a lot to like about everything I just listed. Joss Whedon talks WWII horror films, Video Game Voice Actors have officially gone on strike and AT&T is buying half of entertainment media in the form of Time Warner. All that and more right below!
