This one might be pretty good you guys.
I’ve watched the Wonder Woman trailer a half a dozen times already, not because I love it or I think it’s a masterclass in trailer making. I couldn’t quite grasp the vibe of what they were going for. It was all rather serious with jokes peppered in between action scenes but with super serious music playing in the background. Not that this was a bad trailer mind you. It gets across who Diana is as a person very well and what she feels like she needs to do to protect the world.
This is the first DCEU film that feels like it’s promoting a real deal hero. With hindsight being what it is and in the rare defense of Man of Steel what we saw in those trailers wasn’t really selling us a hero. It was a man who was trying to find his way, he felt lost and was between worlds. Of course it being Superman and everything, the public wrongly assumed he would be… you know, heroic. Here we have Diana going, “If no me than who is going to protect the world?” Which absolutely fits the mythos of Wonder Woman. She’s a protector, a guardian. It;s just going to hit harder because the cinematic universe Batman and Superman have been kind of crappy heroes.
Here’s the official blurb:
Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, when an American pilot crashes on their shores and tells of a massive conflict raging in the outside world, Diana leaves her home, convinced she can stop the threat. Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers…and her true destiny.
