Back in 2006, a group of angry young comic book nerds started a podcast with the focus of highlighting which comics that released that week were the must-read books but as the show grew in popular, it expanded into a show about video games, movies, television, comics, and everything else in between. Just remember one thing: We don't talk. We argue!

Let’s Discuss: Jared Leto’s Joker *Including Internet Reactions*

So yesterday Suicide Squad director, David Ayer decided that he wanted to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Joker’s first appearance. He did that by tweeting out the first official photo of the DC Cinematic Universe (DCU) Joker, as portrayed by Jared Leto… Yup.

Listen is not that I hate Jared Leto, the dude clearly has talent. I just hate the weird direction that the DCU is taking all their characters. Everything’s dark, gritty and looks like it’s from a nu-metal music video.

They are trying way too hard with this new look. The dude has f*cking grills on and a “J” teardrop tattoo on his eye. Not to say that the Joker has ever been anything close to subtle mind you. I mean this showed up in Frank Miller cannon. But pretty much every single tattoo on the guys body is unnecessary.

Granted, you hire a rock star to play a crazy person, you are probably going to get someone who’s going to look like an alternate universe Marilyn Manson.

Slight spoiler/guesswork territory here…

The Joker’s role is that he is already incarcerated when the movie starts. His interactions with the characters in the film is supposed to mirror Hannibal Lecter and Clarice Sterling so most likely he’s going to be in some sort of prison garb for the majority of the film and probably behind some sort of glass. Now will he stay in there? Most likely not and will probably escape at some point. Or maybe they will leave that for a future Batman film. All I’m saying is that we will probably see him in some sort of Joker “costume” as well.

End slight Spoiler/guesswork territory

The internet almost universally agreed that they were not totally in love with the new look and responded in kind.

Suicide Squad's Mr. Freeze

Suicide Squad’s Mr. Freeze

I mean… maybe Ayer and DC know what they are doing. I already hate this guy so much that it hurts.
