According to rumors, that have been more right about Nintendo than not lately. Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will not be a launch title for the Nintendo Switch.
To certain eagle-eyed readers on the internet, this probably shouldn’t come as a surprise as Nintendo was very careful to not specifically state that the Switch was going launch with Breath of the Wild. Was it going to launch on the Switch? Sure, but not the other way around.
Or maybe that was the plan all along and this is just a good old fashioned delay, something that the Legend of Zelda series is pretty familiar with. The problem, as reported, lays with localization. Emily Rogers, who is credited with finding out the then, NX system details, says the following:
They’ve told me that localization for Breath of the Wild might not be finished until the end of December. After localization is completed, this game will require between (at least) four-to-six months of testing.
So the Switch officially launches in March, so we could be looking at either April or June at best, barring any other unforseen delays.
It’s important to note that these are still rumors, but considering Nintendo’s tight lipped nature, we have nothing to do but make some educated guesses.
