Check out the All-New ANTiFanboy Podcast
Back in 2006, a group of angry young comic book nerds started a podcast with the focus of highlighting which comics that released that week were the must-read books but as the show grew in popular, it expanded into a show about video games, movies, television, comics, and everything else in between. Just remember one thing: We don't talk. We argue!

New ‘Batman v Superman’ Trailer Pops Up At SDCC + Panel Recap

Batman v Superman in Hall H is probably the biggest thing to come out of SDCC this year and DC/Warner Brothers do everything they can to deliver.

Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Jesse Eisenberg, Holly Hunter and Zack Synder come out. During the panel some interesting tidbits were revealed.

  • Gotham and Metropolis are “sister cities” separated by a bay. Think San Francisco and Oakland
  • Metropolis is where the rich high society types live and Gotham is more of a middle/lower class population
  • Ben Affleck told a cute story about taking his son to a costume store to get a Batman suit, where he runs into Christian Bale…. who is also in the costume store to buy his son a Batman suit. When Ben asked Bale for some friendly advice, Bale told him, “Make sure you can piss in that suit.”
  • The MechBatsuit is more defensive than offensive, let’s him ‘survive’ Superman

As for the trailer itself? I actually kind of dug it. It’s no secret that me or any of the other ANTiFanpersons have little love for Man of Steel but I’d be lying if the scene of Supes ripping the Batmobile’s doors (front flaps?) off and Batman getting out to stare him down face to face doesn’t get me pumped. Regardless of what this movie is, it will involve Batman and Superman throwing hands at each other and that is just too cool.

Lex is rocking the wig and his still kind goofy. I honestly don’t understand why, 1. Lex can’t just be bald like he is in every iteration EXCEPT for film and 2. Why Lex has to be kinda sorta goofy. It’s tired and old.

Ma Kent gives her chaotic neutral advice to Clark which may be more heartless than what Pa Kent gave him in Man of Steel. No wonder the dude is psychotic-ly destroying cities and snapping necks. He seems like he had a f*cked up childhood.

I’ll be honest, it’s hard NOT to see Ben Affleck running around in his shirt and vest and not just think “That’s Ben Affleck running around.” Alfred gives some stern advice to Bruce when he needs it. It was also cool to see Batman in a different setting like the desert which may or may not have Themysciran ruins behind him? Either way he throws down in desert gear against those soldiers with Superman emblems on. We also see Robin’s outfit with Joker’s writing on it. Guess he got one.

Zod’s dead body sighting.

Jeffery Dean Morgan is Thomas Wayne and all I can think of is how this looks Zack Synder shot this scene on the side when he was making Watchman.

Wonder Woman shows up and it’s all very (very) heavy on the special effects but she looks pretty and she is rocking the gauntlets.

Kryptonite sighting.

At some point we overhear Batman/Bruce Wayne dialogue talking about how Superman has the power to kill the planet and that he has to destroy him. Now I’m not saying destroy = kill buuuuuut, it sounds like so far that DC characters aren’t above putting people under.

Some really cringe dialogue here. “Black vs. Blue. God vs. Man. Day vs. Night!” And a weird goofy line “The red capes are coming, the red capes are coming!”

But God Dammit, Superman rips up that Batmobile and I’m in it again.

Although it’s been mentioned on Twitter. Superman has ZERO Dialogue in two trailers so far. Clark Kent says something off screen about Batman to Perry White but it’s interesting that Superman just stares at things with varying levels of intensity.

So what do you guys think? Gotten HYPED? Lost Hype? No Change?
