So for anyone following the ins and outs of Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice knows, Ben Affleck’s turn as the caped crusader has Warner Brothers execs frothing at the mouth. So it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the big rumor is that WB wants reshoots and a slight script reworking to add in more of the Dark Knight. Reports say that while the title says Batman v. Superman, that it’s a Superman film with Batman and others playing substantial but ultimately supporting roles. The thing is, that sources state that they want to go one further. In addition to beefing up Batman’s role in the film, Superman’s role is to be cut down. Which seems… just sort of mean.
I mean sure, Man of Steel disappointed and Cavill’s The Man From U.N.C.L.E. was sort of a bomb earlier in the summer but that doesn’t mean the script for an unrelated movie needs to be gouged just so everyone’s favorite can be given a bigger role. There is such a saying as “less is more” and wouldn’t Batman have a bigger impact in a smaller role?
Realistically is they are adding footage, they are cutting Superman stuff for the sake of an even run-time. They probably have a number they want to hit and if they are adding in 10-15 minutes of Batman stuff then something has to give.
Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice hits Theaters March 25th 2016.
