Check out the All-New ANTiFanboy Podcast
Back in 2006, a group of angry young comic book nerds started a podcast with the focus of highlighting which comics that released that week were the must-read books but as the show grew in popular, it expanded into a show about video games, movies, television, comics, and everything else in between. Just remember one thing: We don't talk. We argue!

Terrigan Mists Are Killing Mutants In Extraordinary X-Men

These mutants can’t seem to catch a break. It was rumored some time ago that Marvel was looking to softly “phase out” the X-Men franchise in the Marvel Universe. The theory is that the X-Men along with The Fantastic Four franchises had their film rights tied up over at Fox and not with Marvel and in large Disney, meaning that there was no “big money” to be made. So Ike Perlmutter the crazy CEO that he is, has quickly and viciously removed all mentions of the heroes as best he can. Now to repeat myself this is all rumor but you’d be hard pressed to not see some signs. The recent Fantastic Four comic ended with the team sort of disbanding, characters have been removed from promotional images and coincidentally only Marvel characters who star in the Marvel Cinematic Universe appear now. Wolverine, arguably the most popular Marvel character behind Spider-Man has officially died, and the X-Men teams have been in shambles for a while now. This all leads up to a Marvel reboot event currently being published, Secret Wars and while the characters will continue to exist, their impact on the greater MU will seem limited.

The Fantastic Four comic had rarely been a big seller and compared to its contemporaries, even felt a bit antiquated. So phasing the FF out isn’t the most difficult thing in the world. The X-Men however, are an entirely different beast. One of Marvel’s biggest money makers in the comics spectrum and a far larger fan base the Marvel Universe post Secret Wars will refuse to exist without the X-Men and the business side will suffer largely. The events surrounding Extraordinary X-Men may lead to the “phasing out” of the popular mutants.

The fate of mutantkind will be decided here! Prepare for a new team of X-Men for a new Marvel Universe. Today, Marvel is pleased to present your new look inside EXTRAORDINARY X-MEN #1! Eisner Award-nominated writer Jeff Lemire (All-New Hawkeye, Sweet Tooth) and chart-topping artist Humberto Ramos usher mutantkind into a new era for the flagship X-Men title of All-New, All-Different Marvel! Eight months have passed, and the X-Men are in dire straits. A cataclysmic event that has altered the destinies of both Mutant and Inhuman. Many of the X-Men have gone missing – including their wayward leader Scott Summers. It will take the remaining X-Men to forge mutantkind into something stronger. Something extraordinary! Storm, along with Colossus, Magik, Nightcrawler, Iceman, Jean Grey and Old Man Logan will lead those who are hated and feared headlong into tomorrow. Welcome to the new Marvel Universe, X-Men – hope you survive the experience! It all starts this October as Lemire and Ramos bring you EXTRAORDINARY X-MEN #1!

The X-Men are being poisoned by the Terrigan Mists, which currently exists as a giant cloud crossing the globe. The mists are what the Inhumans use to create more of their kind and it seems like this is now lethal to the mutants of the Marvel Universe. My guess is this leads to the X-Men and their comics heading off planet sometime in the near future. Extraordinary_X-Men_1_Cover Extraordinary_X-Men_1_CampbellVariant Extraordinary_X-Men_1_Cosplay_Variant Extraordinary_X-Men_1_Greene_Hip-Hop_Variant Extraordinary_X-Men_1_Preview_3 Extraordinary_X-Men_1_Preview_1 Extraordinary_X-Men_1_Preview_2
